Simply Amazing

This thing is quickly becoming one of my favorite tools in the workshop. I would highly suggest it to anyone that wants to get working with bending acrylic sheets. The unit casing stays relatively cool to the touch. I use a piece of cement board as insulation between the heater and my workbench.

One word of caution. The heating element get hotter over time till it reaches max temperature (~800 degrees). Depending on what you are bending (width of acrylic) I would make sure that you are considering how long the heater has been on. Depending on the duration that the heater has been on it may take less time for the same thickness plastic to become bendable (and eventually too hot/bubble). You can also invest in a controller unit that will maintain a consistent heating element temperature (next item on my tool wish list).

2ft Strip Heater
By GARY F.
This worked great. You do need to control the heat some how, I time how long it is been on and watch how soft the plastic is getting. The next thing will probably be a controller for the heater.
