Infrared patio heater

I purchased 2 of these heaters (Tiger Direct has them at $258 each) for use on my patio. I was using 2 propane heaters on the patio but because of the cost of propane I thought these would do the job and cost less. These heaters are very attractive and well built with HEAVY solid bases and telescoping poles. Yes, they offer some heat but I would describe the heat as just enought to take a LIGHT chill out of the air. You do have to sit pretty close to them to get full heat benefit but so too with propane heaters (the ones with the standard round "Chinese" cap on top) Another thing is where to plug them in. Your electrical socket on the patio may not be able to handle more than one 1500 watt heater if you want to plug more than one in at a time. Mine couldn't handle it and kept tripping the circuit breaker. So, I had to find 2 different places to plug them in. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR HEAT, these are not going to give you that. If you really want heat or the weather isn't just chilly but cold, stick with a propane heater - but not the ones with the "Chinese" cap on top. Use one of the Mr. Heater propane heaters that clip onto the propane tank. You can get them with 1,2, or 3 burners. These clip on ones give you real heat, you don't have to sit right on top of them, and the heat comes directly towards you.
BOTTOM LINE: These heaters are a quality product, well built, and attractive but if you are looking for REAL heat, stay with propane.
