Great Customer Service
By TJ
I purchased this heater in October 05' to help heat a drafty living room. The heater worked great and then after having it for 6 months and running it all the time except when we weren't home one of the elements went out on it. I called Holmes and they sent me a new one right away for just the cost of shipping no questions asked and no hassle.

Great Quartz Heater
By Victor Healey
This is just a quick note. I live in Atlanta in a large house. It is costly to turn the central heat on just to take the chill off a couple of rooms when if you wait long enough it generally will warm up. I have used Holems quartz heaters for several years moving them around as needed. The current model sold here in 2007 is much improved over the ones sold back before 2005. One nice feature is that they include a circuit breaker in a module at the plug end. You can tap that switch to instantly turn one off rather then step through all the different settings using the top mounted switch. I am here checking the current price as I intend to buy a coouple of more of these so they don't need to be moved around. These are really nice space heaters compared to the junk I have tried over the years. They hold up even in the humid enviroment of the bath.

I highly recomend this item.

Best Of All The Heaters I've Tried
By Michael Preyer
I really like the Holmes HQH319 heater. I'm a single person in a large house. I spend most of my evenings in my home office, so I use the HQH319 in that room rather than heating the whole house with the central system. I went through several other heaters over a three year period before settling on this one. I've used two different ceramic heaters, one was a low cube and one was a tower. Neither one of those put out as much heat as I wanted yet they consumed a lot of electricity. Then I tried a parabolic heater. It was much more efficient, but the beam of heat was too narrow. It would heat a portion of my body too much and the rest not enough.

I've had my HGH319 for about two months which is long enough to verify that it doesn't cost as much to use as the ceramic heaters did, yet it puts out a lot more heat. I've never had to use the high setting. I like the fact that on low, both heating elements are still on. Some quarts heaters just use one element on low. The internal fan is great and not very loud. It pulls air in from the top and pushes it out the front which heats my whole body as well as heating the whole room rather easily. The heating elements rattle a bit during the first few seconds of warming up, but that is standard on quarts heaters. The rattle goes away almost immediately.

The lifting handle molded into the back of the case is in a good location and stays cool. Don't mistake the bar across the front for a handle because it gets HOT!! It's just there to keep the front of the heater off the floor in case of a tip-over.

I do wish the heater had a remote control. I also wish it turned off a bit easier. Instead of having an ON/OFF switch separate from a temperature setting control, it's an all-in-one electronic control. To turn the heater off, you have to push the button several times to scroll through the various settings until it turns off. Another method is to hold the button down for about three seconds until the heater turns off. Although slightly annoying, I'll sacrifice those minor inconveniences for the fact that I get a lot of heat with very little electricity. Overall, I love this heater and highly recommend it.

NOTE: I also have a Holmes HQH307 which is a cheaper version of the HQH319. It has the same external case and the same heating elements, so you get the same great, efficient heat. There are two main differences: First is that the controls on the HQH307 are manual. I actually prefer that. One switch turns the heater on or off, the other controls the temperature settings. The second difference is the fan noise. The HQH307 is fairly loud. I don't know why it's so much louder than the HQH319 because they appear to be identical. I use the HQH307 in my master bathroom. I turn it on before I hop in the shower first thing in the morning. By the time I get out of the shower, the bathroom is toasty warm and I can stand in front of the heater while drying off. For that purpose, I don't care that the fan is loud.
